Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has received its Avatar State Patch on Xbox Series X|S. Described as the game’s biggest update so far, the release introduces a redesigned visual interface, two substantially reworked fighters, Ranked Mode 2.0, new options for story and online play, and adjustments for every character.
The update refreshes the menus, character and stage selection screens, and the interface shown during matches. It also adds new tutorials, Combo Trials, Story Mode+, story difficulty settings, and the option to play Story stages in Versus mode.
Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra have been rebuilt with new artwork, attacks, and super moves. Aang’s Avatar State design emphasizes his overwhelming elemental power, with Avatar’s Ascension serving as his signature special. His new Level 4 super, Roku’s Inferno, temporarily transforms him into Avatar Roku, who covers the battlefield in flames.
Nightmare Korra draws on the dark reflection seen in The Legend of Korra. Her new moveset combines slow, ghost-like movement with sudden chain attacks and teleports. The character now uses chains on both wrists, while her effects include mercury-based visuals and a transformation into Vaatu during a victory sequence. Rather than constantly losing health as in an early prototype, Nightmare Korra begins matches with a lower health total.
The patch also includes broad balance changes. Azula’s Ambition’s Spark now tracks opponents more closely, has a larger detonation hitbox, and can be flow cancelled. Sokka can also cancel certain sword techniques into a boomerang toss under specific conditions when using the Master Piandao support. After achieving at least 10 successful sword-hit stacks, he permanently unlocks that option for the remainder of the match.
Players who pre-ordered the game or upgraded to the Deluxe Edition can vote for the fifth character in the Year 1 Pass. Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin are already confirmed, while the remaining candidate will be selected from Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi, and Asami Sato. Voting is available from the main menu for one month. Standard Edition pre-orders receive one vote, while the Deluxe Edition includes an additional vote.
The Avatar State Patch is available now for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game on Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition costs $29.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which includes the Year 1 Pass, costs $49.99.
