Call of Duty moved up the weekly player rankings following the launch of Modern Warfare 4, according to figures shared by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. The data covers the week ending October 24 and counts weekly players rather than concurrent users.
On Xbox, Call of Duty climbed past NBA 2K27 to take third place in the worldwide rankings. It rose two positions to second on PlayStation, while its biggest jump came on Steam’s US chart, where it moved from 32nd to sixth.
The boost was smaller than the one recorded during Black Ops 7’s launch in 2025. Call of Duty represented 17% of active Xbox players during Modern Warfare 4’s launch week, compared with 29% during Black Ops 7’s release.
The original report notes that Black Ops 7 had a larger player pool to draw from because it was the last Call of Duty game to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. Modern Warfare 4 also had a staggered release, with early access to its campaign and DMZ modes ahead of the full launch on October 23.
