Start11 v3 is now available in beta with new options for customizing the Windows 11 desktop, including widgets in the Start menu and a dock-like Taskbar Islands feature.

The update introduces 20 widgets, including a clock and calendar. Taskbar Islands divides the taskbar into smaller sections rather than presenting it as one uninterrupted strip, while retaining a design intended to fit Windows 11.

Users can also group apps on the taskbar by holding Alt and dragging them together. Those groups can be pinned as workspaces, allowing multiple apps to be launched with one click. A new taskbar button provides access to recently closed applications, overflow items and taskbar tools.

Start11 v3 also lets users browse Start menu layouts shared by the community. The app offers different layouts, visual styles and positioning options for people who want alternatives to Windows 11’s default Start menu. It is currently on sale for $8 while version 3 is in beta.
