Terrible Lizards is now available on Xbox-series-x-s/">Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass. Developed by Digital Pajamas, the first-person platforming game challenges players to escape runaway dinosaur animatronics in an abandoned roadside attraction, with movement serving as their primary defense.

The game’s design is built around a fast, reactive rhythm inspired by classic 2D platformers such as Donkey Kong Country and early Mario games. Its first-person perspective combines that immediacy with controls influenced by games including Mirror’s Edge, Dying Light, Titanfall, Call of Duty, Overwatch and Neon White.

Players can adjust their trajectory while airborne, allowing them to correct jumps, recover from imperfect movement and make difficult landings more manageable. The same system also rewards experienced players, who can use it to take faster routes, perform harder jumps or bypass parts of a platforming sequence.

This approach gives Terrible Lizards an accessible starting point while offering room for advanced play. Players can explore carefully, search for collectibles and solve environmental challenges at their own pace, or chain together jumps, slides, wall runs, clambers, ledges and swings to move more efficiently through the environments.

There are no weapons or conventional ways to fight back. When a creature attacks, players must rely on their movement to survive. Encounters include direct chases, collapsing environments and open arenas where players must complete objectives or find a way to escape.

Between these set pieces, the game features traditional platforming, exploration, environmental puzzles and larger caverns where navigating the space is part of the challenge. The movement system also supports the story, collectibles, exploration, hunt arenas and New Game Plus content.
